Moses Lalasava Joins the Hartford Harpooners

The Harpooners are ecstatic to made the announcement that Moses Lalasava will be joining the roster. From the isle of Fiji, Moses has traveled across the world to play their best competition he can in rugby. He has played for clubs like the Westside Ronins, Atavus Rugby, Washington Athletic Club Rugby, Sacramento Eagles7s RC, Seattle Saracens,  Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby, and Miami Sun of the World Tens Series.

Harpooners Add 16 year-old Corbin Smith out of Fairfield

  The Harpooners are electrified to announce the addition of Fairfield native, Corbin Smith. Corbin started playing rugby with Fairfield Rugby in high school. He would continue his career by playing for sides like Atlantis, Eagle Impact Rugby, Northeast Academy, and Berks County. Corbin is an exciting young talent that wants to make his mark on the game and he will be joining the Harpooners U-23 side in Florida at the Tropical 7s.

Former RUNY Player, Jamal Hadley, Joins Hartford

  The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Jamal Hadley to the roster. The Georgia resident is a three-time conference champion at American International College and has played with Old Blue RFC, USA Rugby South, and Rugby United New York of the MLR. Jamal is ready to get back on to the pitch to play the game.

Another Young Local Talent Joins the Harpooners, Ehlers Added to the Hartford Roster

      The Harpooners have signed another young local talent, the Fairfield native, Ben Ehlers. Ben started his rugby career Fairfield Rugby and would represent them playing for Rugby Connecticut. He would then go on to play Greenwich RFC, Play Rugby USA, the USA Community Olympic Development Program, St. Joseph's University-Philadelphia, Northeast Academy, Fairfield Yankees, and Fairfield University. Been will be joining the Harpooners U-23 side in Florida for the Tropical 7s.

From the Bay State to the Nutmeg State, Raum Joins Hartford

  The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Keith Raum to the roster. Keith hales from Massachusetts and started his rugby career at UMass-Dartmouth. He would then take his talents south of the Massachusetts border to Providence Rugby. Keith is now heading to another southern New England state to continue on his path in the sport we know as rugby.

From the Big Apple to the Nutmeg State, Peter Reyes joins the Harpooners

  The Harpooners are excited to announce the latest addition to the roster, Peter Reyes. Peter started playing rugby at Xavier High School in New York. He would then go on to play for Kutztown University, Rugby United New York U-23, White Plains, and USA Rugby South. Peter will be joining the Harpooners U-23 side for the Tropical 7s in April.

Another World Tens Player Joining Hartford

  The Hartford Harpooners are proud to announce the latest addition to the roster, Gio Douyon. Gio first playing rugby with Georgia State and would join Atlanta Old White Rugby, Optimus Rugby, Pathway 404, and the London Royals for the World Tens Series in Bermuda last fall. Gio will finally dawn the colors of the Hartford Harpooners at the Tropical 7s later this month, showing that we in are manifesting legendary ruggers here in Hartford.

Patterson Moving North to Make His Mark

 March 9, 2021     The Hartford Harpooners have picked up another young talent, Sam Patterson. Sam started playing rugby with Charlotte Rugby and then USA Rugby South. Sam was assist of the Harpooners first championship at Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale last month and will be joining the U-23 side at Tropical 7s later this month.

Truax Joins the Harpooners

March 9, 2021   The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of John Truax to the roster. John started his rugby career at Bryan College. He would then play for teams like Chattanooga Rugby Football Club , Optimus Rugby, Pathway 404, and USA Rugby South. Truax was apart of the Harpooners first championship at Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale. Today is also his birthday, happy birthday Truax.

Coop Already Making His Mark for the Harpooners

March 9, 2021   The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the adoption of Joseph “Coop” Jackson to the roster. Coop started his rugby career with the Atlanta Renegades. He would then move on to represent teams like USA Rugby South, Pathway 404, Optimus Rugby, Rekavary, Roots Rugby Family, and even switched codes to rugby league with the Atlanta Rhinos. Coop also was apart of the the Harpooners first ever championship victory at Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale last month.

March 9, 2021      The Hartford Harpooners proud to announce the addition of Brendan Weaver. The Louisiana native started playing rugby at Bayou Hurricanes RFC in high school. He would then go on to play for New Orleans Rugby, LSUA, Johnsonville Hawks, New Orleans Gold Academy, NSCRO South All-Stars, Rhinos Rugby Academy, and Keene Rugby Club. Brendan will dawn the colors of the Hartford Harpooners on a few weeks, when the Hartford Harpooners U-23 side heads down to Florida for the Tropical 7s.

Jacque't Joins the Harpooners

March 7, 2021   The Hartford Harpooners are excited to announce the addition of Dant’e Jacque’t. The Delaware native started his rugby career with Delmarva Rugby. Dant’e would then play for Schuylkill River Rugby. He would then make the transition to rugby league with the Delaware Black Foxes of the USARL. Dant’e welcome to the Harpooners where we are manifesting legendary ruggers .

New Jersey Native and Former QU Player Joins the Harpooners

 March 6, 2021     The Hartford Harpooners are proud to announce the addition of Rob McGreevey . The New Jersey native started playing rugby at Quinnipiac University and would also play at Morris Rugby. Rob would also take the journey to Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale and suit up for Optimus Rugby. Rob will also be dawning the colors of Hartford at the Tropical 7s in April.

Hartford Signs Another Young, Local Talent

March 6, 2021   The Hartford Harpooners are proud to announce the addition of Fairfield native, Aidan Smith. Aidan start playing rugby in high school with Fairfield Rugby. He would also represent the state of Connecticut for the high school representative side. He will then go on to play for Northeast Academy, Stars Rugby 7s, for their U-18 and U-23 sides, Atlantis, Eagle Impact Academy, and Connecticut Select. Aidan is committed to play at Kutztown in the fall, but first he has already made is Mark wearing the Harpooners kit. While at Ruggerfest-Fort Lauderdale 2021, he helped set up multiple tries and scored two of his own throughout the tournament. Aidan will again represent the Harpooners at the Tropical 7s next month. As Aidan goes on his journey, he is helping Hartford manifesting legendary r uggers.

Local Talent, Darrin Fernandez, Joins the Hartford Roster

 February 13, 2021      Harpooners have picked up a local prospect who has a goal to make the MLR and we are excited to be able to support his vision by providing a pathway for him as we both have a goal to attain the same vision. Darrin Fernandez is smooth operator when on the field once the whistle blows Darrin moves job to job always re-centering himself so that he can perform at each task at hand. He is a speedy back who has crisp skills and loves to find himself in the try zone. He started his rugby playing career playing U-18 with Fairfield Rugby before moving on to college to represent AIC. With the goal of making the MLR, he knew he couldn’t just play college rugby and was encouraged to play mens level rugby representing his local club team Fairfield Yankees. With those experiences, he was picked up by the Dominican National Team competing in Sevens Tournaments. He’s represent select side teams from Rekavary to the Northeast Academy from there he made his way...

Former USA Eagle is Added to the Roster

      February 9, 2021      The man whose been around the world and has found his home here in Connecticut, Marcus Satavu will be representing the Harpooners. Marcus was first introduced to the game of rugby when he made a trip to Fiji at the age of 6 and since then hasn’t looked back. Growing up in America he grew up playing just about every sport but was sold on rugby. Marcus can be found floating anywhere on the field from the centers to the back three and even in the back row. Marcus went on and played rugby in the US Air Force where he went on to serve his country for sevens years working to gain the opportunity to represent the USA Rugby national team. He went on to play for many select side teams Tiger Rugby, Bulldog Rugby, Atlantis Rugby, making his way into the MLR with Rugby United New York and also double dipping with the USA Hawks before crossing into World Tens Series with the Miami Sun. Dougherty Joins the Harpooners

    February 7, 2021      The Harpooners are excited to announce they have picked up Francis Dougherty  to represent the squad. Francis is a big mobile prop that is quite silky with ball in hand. Francis started his career while in college out of the University of Albany playing as a prop and lock then moving on to represent men’s clubs Saratoga Rugby, Old Blue RFC, and the academy team Northeast Academy as well as select side team Stars Rugby 7s. Ranfone Training Systems to join the Harpooners for the January Combine

Harpooners Add a New York Native, Yohendy Martinez

    January 26, 2021        Harpooners have picked up another international for the squad, Yohendy Martinez. Yohendy has been playing the game since high school here in the U.S and has gone on to represent his country of origin the Dominican Republic Rugby Federation. Starting his career out of Monroe High School and playing with Play Rugby USA. He then went on to play college rugby at St. Bonaventure. He’s really developed in to quite a rugby player always looking to improve. Now currently with NYAC, he is excited for an opportunity to play for Hartford. Yohendy is usually found in the second row or playing 8 man but don’t let his size fool you, you’ll also be able to see him playing in the seven-a-side style of play as well. With Yohendy’s experience and rugby intellect he’s developed through the years it’s no wonder we pick him up for the #HartfordHarpooners #manifestinglegendaryruggers

With his size, power, and speed you can find him in the back row or in the centers as he has some good skills with ball in hand. We are excited to a pathway for him as he pushes towards his path of joining the MLR. Veteran Player Joins the Harpooners

    J a n u a r y   15 , 2021   Veteran player Scott Lucas will be taking on a big role with the Harpooners. He is an experienced player that is excited to share his journey with the up and coming talent as he looks to lead the team into the right direction. Scott aka “Boston” has loads of experience in the front row having represented many teams in his career from Charlotte RFC, Boston Irish Wolfhounds, USA Rugby South, Mystic River, Old Blue RFC just to name a few. Scott understands the game well and really plays his role well. He likes a fast paced style of play amd has a high Rugby IQ knowing when and where to be at the right time to make his presence effective. We are excited for him to suit up for the #HartfordHarpooners and bringing the leadership required to being a successful team. #manifestinglegendaryruggers

Another Local Talent Joins Hartford

    J a n u a r y   15 , 2021   Hartford has picked up a legend in the making, Straight Outta of Connecticut, Ben Klau. Ben has been playing this game for quite some time now starting out of Staples High School and moved on with playing a few tournaments with Stars Rugby 7’s and is now finishing up his degree at UConn we expect to see some big things with this young man. He is full of energy and is tenacious his work rate is incredible and with that alone will get him very far in the game. He is a versatile back packed with some blistering speed and if you’re not paying attention he’ll be breaking through the gain line scoring a few tries.
